SHELTER 2010 - 2012
This series of digital prints and paintings have developed from the Sacred Places images and explore ideas of "shelter". The elements, the ritual place, the need for physical and psychological protection or safety. The images are based on church and cathedral ceilings but also reference the more ancient ritual spaces such as passage tombs and deep caves. The archaeological theories of Professoes Richard Bradley and David Lewis Williams have had a great deal of influence on my thinking through these images.
The print images are in editions of 40 and are printed on A4 Cason paper using HP Viviera ink. The paintings are acrylic and Neocolor crayon on canvas. The final seven on this page are unstretched canvas banners 900x1800
